There are a large number of options in this section. Most are self-explanatory, and all have at least brief text covering their usage/meaning directly within the product, which will always be up-to-date. Just hover your mouse over the relevant setting, and you should get a pop-up. If not, please check you have not disabled pop-ups/Tooltips in the NinjaTrader settings. Some of those options will not be explicitly documented here (this saves precious electrons!)
Show profiles right to left (option)
Draw profiles from the right to the left, rather than the traditional left to right, when using traditional flat-edged profiles
Candle offset (shift)
Used to shift all candles left/right by the specified number of places for display purposes. This is a very specific use case for use with third-party indicators and is not normally used.
Profile Opacity
The default drawing opacity of the profiles. Less than 100 will allow some transparency with other chart objects being able to show through the drawn profiles
Use anti-aliasing
Turns on the anti-aliasing to draw the profiles. This may result in a slightly ‘fuzzy’ look to some previously sharp edges, but it will blend the sharp drawing more nicely. Personal preference option. Enabling it does have a small performance impact, but this will depend on your graphics card.
Number font
The font to use for rendering numbers inside the profiles. The size will be the max as font sizes will be scaled to suit the available screen size when zooming in and out.
Number font size modifier
Ninjtrader historically has NOT supported some display formats, such as 4k. if you have such a device and want to try to make ALL the fonts larger for legibility reasons, you can enter a value above 1 here, which will increase all font sizes by this factor globally. Not typically required
Traditional flat edge profiles
Uses the traditional D-shaped profile when drawing the per-bar profiles.
Sell vol on left, buy on right
Changes from the traditional D shape to a split profile view, where you can explicitly see the buy volumes on the left, and the sell volumes on the right
Centre on native candle
A display formatting option that enables you to have the profiles aligned to the left of the native bar, or centred on it. Personal preference and will depend on what other indicators you are trying to align with on the same chart.
Gradient strength for candles
When drawing the large candles above the data grid, a colour gradient is used, just for aesthetics! You can customise this blend, or disable it, using this option
Draw cell borders
Each price level in the profile typically has a border drawn around it; however, this can be disabled for a cleaner look. Personal preference option.
Border around dominant side
This option highlights the buy or sell side, depending on which is dominant (delta)
Show open close inner candle
This draws the wick from high to low inside the candle
Enable price trails
This highlights recently traded prices. The duration and colours are customisable, and it shows a fading ‘trail’ highlighting recent price activity. The trail fades depending on how long ago the price last traded at that level.
